How we vet businesses
Quick answer: We list a business only after confirming it from public sources: its own live website, a Utah license lookup where the state requires a license, and the date we checked. Every listing shows its status. 22 of 46 new listings are fully verified as of October 23, 2026.
Last checked: . Listings are free; order is never for sale. How we check.
The checks
- Real and local. The business's own website is live and shows a phone number, and its location or service area is in Utah County.
- State license, where required.
- HVAC and plumbing: active contractor license in the business's name in Utah DOPL's Licensee Lookup. (DOPL classifications include H100 HVAC Contractor and P200/P201 Plumbing; DOPL.)
- Dentists: active DOPL dental license for the lead dentist named on the office's site.
- Realtors: active company or branch license with the Utah Division of Real Estate, from the Division's published company list.
- Urgent care clinics: clinics are run by health systems or practices; we confirm address and hours on the clinic's own page and in an independent county guide.
- Snow removal and lawn care: no state license category; we confirm the service on the business's own site and look for at least one independent listing.
- Insurance. We ask listed businesses for proof of liability insurance on request; we do not claim a business is insured unless it shows us.
- Reviews. We do not show star ratings or review counts unless we confirm them at the source.
- Records. Each check, source URL and date is saved in our verification record.
- Re-checks. At least yearly, and whenever a homeowner reports a problem.
What the badges mean
- License verified with Utah DOPL or License verified with Utah Division of Real Estate: live website plus an active state license on the date shown.
- Checked: live website plus an independent public source (categories with no state license).
- License lookup pending / Partially verified: the business is real and its own site is live, but a check is not finished yet.
Frequently asked questions
How do you vet businesses?
We confirm the business on its own live website (phone and location in Utah County), check its state license where Utah requires one, look for an independent public listing where there is no license, and record every source and the date checked.
Which licenses do you check?
Utah DOPL (Licensee Lookup & Verification) for HVAC and plumbing contractors and for dentists; the Utah Division of Real Estate (license search) for real estate brokerages. Snow removal and lawn care have no state license category, so we use the business's own site plus an independent listing.
Can a business pay to rank higher?
No. Order is not for sale. Any future sponsored spot will be clearly labeled.
How often are listings re-checked?
At least once a year, and whenever someone reports a problem. Each page shows its last-checked date.
